Steel Footing / Steel Skid
◎Water tank to be installed on a horizontal flat surface beam structure, designed to carry its weight.
◎The water tank may be supported on a steel footing from a certain size and up, to ensure leveling. If the length of tank is longer than 10M, the nearest FTC representative may be contacted for special design consideration.
◎Steel framework may be formed from either Channel or H-beam, in a suitable steel Specification, to ensure that each panel of the base of the tank is supported.
◎Steel section, dimension and sizes depend on the water tank height and surface.
◎For any size and height of tanks, pre-welded steel footing Modules are available upon request, and are designed to be loaded in container.
◎At site, those modules will require simple bolting together in order to form the entire steel base frame.

Former President Roh Moo-hyun
Former President Roh Moo-hyun, 63 years old, threw himself off of a mountain near his hometown of Bongwha village located in the South Gyeongsang Province during the early morning of May 23. The former President was being investigated by prosecutors. This unprecedented incident has seized the whole country with sorrow and shock.
Former President Roh was threw himself off of “Owl Rock,” located on a mountain near his home at 6:40 a.m., and immediately afterwards was carried to Busan University Hospital in Yansan-city located in the South Gyeongsang Province. In spite of receiving emergency treatment, Roh was declared dead at 9:30 a.m.
The South Gyeongsang Province Policy Agency said, “Former President Roh departed his home with his bodyguard at 5:45 a.m. and threw himself from ”Owl Rock“ while hiking in the mountains.”
Former president Roh left a brief note consisting of fourteen clauses in his computer before he left home. According to Kim Kyung-su, Roh’s close aide, the former president demonstrated remorse to close acquaintances, “I am indebted to so many people. Many people have suffered due to me.” Roh also said, “The pains I have received are also countless” in reference to the pressure and suffering caused by prosecutors’ investigations.
Roh added, “Life and death are a part of nature. Cremate me and leave only a single tombstone near my home.” He had returned to live in his hometown of Bongwha Village since his term‘s conclusion in February of last year.
Former President Roh had been summoned by prosecutors on April 30 for questioning based on allegations that he had received bribes from Park Yeon-cha, the Chairman of Taekwang Co. The police and prosecutors have installed an investigative headquarters office in South Gyeongsang’s Police Agency and are questioning bodyguards who accompanied the former president. The body of the former president Roh was placed in his hometown of Bongwha Village at 6:30 p.m. May 23. The funeral services will be decided among family members.

Dewa signs Dh12b deals for six units

Dubai: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) said yesterday it has signed contracts worth Dh12 billion with local and foreign firms for six electricity generation and water desalination projects.
The deals also involve work on water reservoirs, substations and a pipeline, the authority said.
Dewa managing director and chief executive officer Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer said the new projects will allow the utility provider to cater to rising demand.
By 2020, Dewa's target is to have 20,000 megawatts (MW) of power and 1,000 million gallons of water capacity.
One contract is for the construction of a power and desalination plant at Jebel Ali called 'M Station'.
The M Station package is a combined cycle cogeneration power plant at the cost of Dh6.2 billion.
It comprises six Siemens gas turbines, six Doosan heat recovery steam generators and three Alstom steam turbines. The plant will produce 2,000 MW of electricity when completed around the middle of 2010.
The desalination package shall consist of eight desalination units, each with an output of 17.5 million gallons per day, and four boilers with a total output of 140 million gallons. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2010. The third contract is for the construction of a 20-inch diesel fuel oil (DFO) pipeline from Jebel Ali Free Zone to Aweer Power Station. It will cost Dh155 million.
The scope of work for the project includes all mechanical, civil, cooling, and protection and leak detection systems.
Mushrif project
Another project involves construction of a water reservoir at Mushrif with a storage capacity of 180 million gallons. The Dh620 million contract includes all civil and mechanical work. The reservoir project is expected to be completed by April 2009.
The fifth contract is for the construction of two 400/132 kV substations at Barsha and Nad Al Sheba for a total of Dh816 million.
These facilities are expected to operational by the end of 2009.
Dewa also awarded a contract for a 400/132 kV transformer station at Techno Park to supply electricity the industrial zone and other areas like Dubai Industrial City, Jebel Ali and Airport City. This project will be completed by February 2010.
Green move: New power unit soon
Dubai recently signed a memorandum of understanding with three foreign companies to build its first independent power plant. The $6-billion plant will use fuel from synthetic gas produced through the coal gasification process.
The companies part of the plan are Sino Global International, Skyline Services Group, and Samena Power and Energy Limited. The process to produce fuel will be conducted at facilities in the US.
A contract is expected to be signed later this year. It will be completed in 2011 and generate 2,000 MW of electricity.
"It will provide clean energy and diversify our power production," Al Tayer said.
Dewa will be the sole customer for the plant's output. Final negotiations for the project are yet to be conducted and Al Tayer said Dewa could become a partner in the project.
