Former President Roh Moo-hyun

Former President Roh Moo-hyun, 63 years old, threw himself off of a mountain near his hometown of Bongwha village located in the South Gyeongsang Province during the early morning of May 23. The former President was being investigated by prosecutors. This unprecedented incident has seized the whole country with sorrow and shock.

Former President Roh was threw himself off of “Owl Rock,” located on a mountain near his home at 6:40 a.m., and immediately afterwards was carried to Busan University Hospital in Yansan-city located in the South Gyeongsang Province. In spite of receiving emergency treatment, Roh was declared dead at 9:30 a.m.

The South Gyeongsang Province Policy Agency said, “Former President Roh departed his home with his bodyguard at 5:45 a.m. and threw himself from ”Owl Rock“ while hiking in the mountains.”

Former president Roh left a brief note consisting of fourteen clauses in his computer before he left home. According to Kim Kyung-su, Roh’s close aide, the former president demonstrated remorse to close acquaintances, “I am indebted to so many people. Many people have suffered due to me.” Roh also said, “The pains I have received are also countless” in reference to the pressure and suffering caused by prosecutors’ investigations.

Roh added, “Life and death are a part of nature. Cremate me and leave only a single tombstone near my home.” He had returned to live in his hometown of Bongwha Village since his term‘s conclusion in February of last year.

Former President Roh had been summoned by prosecutors on April 30 for questioning based on allegations that he had received bribes from Park Yeon-cha, the Chairman of Taekwang Co. The police and prosecutors have installed an investigative headquarters office in South Gyeongsang’s Police Agency and are questioning bodyguards who accompanied the former president. The body of the former president Roh was placed in his hometown of Bongwha Village at 6:30 p.m. May 23. The funeral services will be decided among family members.

Dewa signs Dh12b deals for six units

Dubai: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) said yesterday it has signed contracts worth Dh12 billion with local and foreign firms for six electricity generation and water desalination projects.

The deals also involve work on water reservoirs, substations and a pipeline, the authority said.

Dewa managing director and chief executive officer Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer said the new projects will allow the utility provider to cater to rising demand.

By 2020, Dewa's target is to have 20,000 megawatts (MW) of power and 1,000 million gallons of water capacity.

One contract is for the construction of a power and desalination plant at Jebel Ali called 'M Station'.

The M Station package is a combined cycle cogeneration power plant at the cost of Dh6.2 billion.

It comprises six Siemens gas turbines, six Doosan heat recovery steam generators and three Alstom steam turbines. The plant will produce 2,000 MW of electricity when completed around the middle of 2010.

The desalination package shall consist of eight desalination units, each with an output of 17.5 million gallons per day, and four boilers with a total output of 140 million gallons. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2010. The third contract is for the construction of a 20-inch diesel fuel oil (DFO) pipeline from Jebel Ali Free Zone to Aweer Power Station. It will cost Dh155 million.

The scope of work for the project includes all mechanical, civil, cooling, and protection and leak detection systems.

Mushrif project

Another project involves construction of a water reservoir at Mushrif with a storage capacity of 180 million gallons. The Dh620 million contract includes all civil and mechanical work. The reservoir project is expected to be completed by April 2009.

The fifth contract is for the construction of two 400/132 kV substations at Barsha and Nad Al Sheba for a total of Dh816 million.

These facilities are expected to operational by the end of 2009.

Dewa also awarded a contract for a 400/132 kV transformer station at Techno Park to supply electricity the industrial zone and other areas like Dubai Industrial City, Jebel Ali and Airport City. This project will be completed by February 2010.

Green move: New power unit soon

Dubai recently signed a memorandum of understanding with three foreign companies to build its first independent power plant. The $6-billion plant will use fuel from synthetic gas produced through the coal gasification process.

The companies part of the plan are Sino Global International, Skyline Services Group, and Samena Power and Energy Limited. The process to produce fuel will be conducted at facilities in the US.

A contract is expected to be signed later this year. It will be completed in 2011 and generate 2,000 MW of electricity.

"It will provide clean energy and diversify our power production," Al Tayer said.

Dewa will be the sole customer for the plant's output. Final negotiations for the project are yet to be conducted and Al Tayer said Dewa could become a partner in the project.

Galvanized Liquitainer
Where space is at a premium, the Liquitainer ® / Firetainer ® tank is an ideal solution for bulk water storage indoors or out. A wide range of shapes and any length or width can be catered for, with a maximum height of 4.5m.
Using steel sections of either rectangular, circular or u-beams, a structure is formed which eliminates the need for internal bracing. Galvanised steel panels are bolted between the sections and the interior is fitted with an open top tailored membrane liner. Alternative covers are available either fl at with a raised ball valve housing for indoor use, or with a low profile pitch for outdoor use.
Liquitainer ®/ Firetainer ® tanks can be located on any suitable flat load bearing surface, such as an existing reinforced concrete floor, or roof top, and are simply bolted to the floor surface.
Firetainer ® tanks are approved by the UK Loss Prevention Certification Board for the storage of fire sprinkler water.

For small to medium capacities of water storage, where space is at a premium, the Tritainer ®/ Firetainer ® tank offers a cost effective solution.
Using triangular shaped galvanised steel panels which make up 1.0m2 modules that are then bolted together on site, a rapidly assembled rectangular tank that can fit into small and difficult spaces can be provided. Internally a hot vulcanised tailor made membrane liner is fitted to the tank. Any length and width can be catered for, with a maximum height of 2.5m.
Firetainer ® tanks are approved by the UK Loss Prevention Certification Board for the storage of fire sprinkler water.

- Easy to handle, relatively small panels, enabling easy access to restricted areas.
- No internal bracing. This means no internal corrosion problems.
- No sealants or gaskets to the tank shell, which means faster installation and elimination of

leakage problems.
- Insulation can be placed internally between the tank liner and tank wall, thereby protecting

the insulation from the environment and vandalism.

Galvanized Liquistore

For standard fire sprinkler water storage applications or general industrial water storage requirements, the Liquistore ® / Firestore ® tank is a cost effective solution.
Using site assembled components, consisting of overlapped and bolted galvanised steel panels with either a trough deck or aluminium sectional site assembled cover, together with an internal, open top membrane liner, the Liquistore ® / Firestore ® offers a truly long life and low maintenance water storage system.
Standard tanks are available in capacities from 10m3 (2,200 UK gallons) to 2,222m3 (488,840 UK gallons) and in diameters from 3.06m to 21.40m and heights from 1.25m to 13.26m. Non standard and larger size tanks are available upon request.
Firestore ® tanks are approved by the UK Loss Prevention Certification Board and Factory Mutual Assurance of the United States of America for storage of fire sprinkler water and by the UK Water Regulations Advisory Scheme for the storage of potable water under the name Liquistore®.

Ease and speed of assembly. No sealants are used on the tank shell. This means that site installation can make full use of hydraulic jacking with the confi dence in knowing that the integrity of the tank is not reliant on a large number of individual panel seals. Simplicity of foundations. All that is required to site the tank
Simplicity of foundations. All that is required to site the tank is a fl at load bearing surface, typically of reinforced concrete. The bottom rolled angle at the tank base is simply bolted to the concrete floor.
Low maintenance. The galvanised steel panels to the tank are made from high quality pre-galvanised strip to BS2989 Grade Z35, with a zinc coating of 300g/m2 each side of the panel. For plate thicknesses above 4.2mm, each plate is hot dip galvanised to the requirements of BS EN ISO 1461 (1999). This means a highly corrosion resistant exterior fi nish to the tank. Internally the hot vulcanised, tailor-made membrane liner separates the stored water from the tank shell, often a major cause of corrosion. The membrane liner itself will not rot or deteriorate in the same way that other coatings and fi nishes to the interior of tanks will.

Aluminum Liquistore

The tank is of cylindrical bolted construction, made from EN 48S-2 Type EN AW 5083- H22 aluminium alloy with aluminium angle strengthening hoops of Grade 6082-T4 at the top and bottom, and is supplied with an aluminium low profile sectional cover incorporating a ball valve housing and access way.

In addition the tank is fitted with an open top internal membrane liner. The assembled tank is clamped down with anchor bolts fixed to the base.
All tanks are normally supplied complete with external aluminium hooped access ladder (beginning approximately 2.4m from tank base), aluminium handrailing around the access platform, calibrated contents gauge, 25mm warning overflow, 80mm drain valve and other connections as required.
Standard tanks are available in capacities from 20m3 (4,400 UK gallons) to over 5000m3 (1,100,000 UK gallons), diameters from 3.06m to 32.17m and heights from 2.477m to 13.26m. Tanks can be supplied on a specially designed steel support structure at any specified height above ground level. Non-standard and larger sizes in other tank materials and cover types can be built to suit particular applications.
Our standard Liquistore ® is designed to withstand normal UK conditions when fully complete and filled. Non-standard designs are available to meet particular criteria. Fully complete but unfilled, the standard Liquistore ® will normally withstand moderate wind loadings. Actual performance will depend upon tank configuration and diameter to height ratio. Where a Liquistore ® is expected to be subject to particularly severe conditions, or to be regularly in the unfilled condition, additional strengthening will be provided.

Tank Connectors

Purewater supply and if required, factory fit a vast range of complimentary connections including:

Float Valves.
BS1212, Equilibrium, and the Aylesbury Keraflo range.
Float valves can be factory fitted by our engineers, ensuring correct air gap designation and eliminating innacuracies encountered when valves are fitted by persons not fully conversant with current water regulations.

Screened overflows and warning pipes.
A full range of screened overflows and warning pipes from 22mm up to 200mm.
Screened overflows up to 50mm are suitable for a compression joint to PVC and copper pipework.
Screened overflows 67mm and larger are manufactured by ourselves from Pvc and are suitable for either Pvc flange and backing ring or solvent cement fixed socket connection.

Full faced flanged tank connectors.
A range of flanged tank connectors from 28mm up to 200mm all supplied complete with EPDM gaskets and NP16 flange and galvanised backing ring.
It is highly recommended that our engineers factory fit these connections for you.

Brass compression tank connectors.
A comprehensive range from 15mm up to 54mm. Either factory fitted or supplied loose for on-site fitting.
Screened lid vents.
Fitted to the tank lid to prevent vaccum and pressurisation of the tank during normal used.

Open vent seal.
Sealed connection to allow the fitting of vent pipes from other equipment. Especially suitable for feed and expansion tanks.

Internal sparge pipes.
Internal pipework fitted to the discharge connection of the tank. These connections are suitable for use when both inlet and discharge connections are positioned on the same face of the tank. Utilisation of a sparge pipe will ensure a cross flow of water helping prevent stagnation.

Non-Std connections.
Purewater Storage can supply non-std connections to suit most applications and manufactured from a number of materials including stainless steel, ABS and PVC. Please contact us with any unusual requirements.

Panel Specification

Panels are manufactured from high quality SMC material hot pressed moulded to a temperature of 150캽. ensuring maximum dimensional stability.
Panels are available in a metric format, panels being 1000 x 1000mm, 1000 x 500mm & 500 x 500mm.
Individual panels are dimensionally accurate with defined sharp corners, and are precision factory drilled.
Truncated panel option for maximum strength and to provide full metre span base configuration.
Factory Pre-insulated using 25mm CFC free polyurethane foam.
Fully WRAS approved.
Maximum size Manway access panel with 830 x 830mm aperture.
Purpose designed one-piece raised float valve housing panel complete with screened spill over weir to ensure AB type air gap configuration.

Access Man-way

The Purewater man-way has a considerable 830 x 830mm access aperture. This ensures maximum space for ease of movement, and provides the largest access hatch available in the industry.

Raised Float Valve Housings

Purewater sectional tanks are supplied with a one-piece Raised Float Valve Housing panel which forms part of the roof structure in the same way as a standard roof panel. The inspection hatch opening is again a considerable 890 x 890mm offering the same access benefits as the standard man-way.
As an option for use when height restrictions in the plant room are a factor, Purewater supply raised float valve housings with a side access facility, ensuring easy access to the float valve without having to work above the highest point of the tank.
All float valve housings are supplied complete with screened spill over weirs to ensure AB air gap compliance. All Purewater spill over weirs are shrouded to prevent light ingress, thus preventing the growth of algae and similar organisms.

Fixings

All internal fixings are A4 grade stainless steel, external fixings are either galvanised or A4 grade stainless steel.

Bracing System

Bracing where required is provided by high grade box section steel uprights located at each vertical panel joint. Uprights are fixed using threaded stainless steel tie rods and further secured with angle brackets to the outside of the tank. All external steel components are hot dip galvanised.
Our unique bracing system allows for maximum unobstructed movement within the tank, the system also providing unequalled simplicity for future cleaning operations.
For tanks with internal divisions, Purewater use stainless steel for all uprights and associated reinforcement to divider panels throughout.

Tank assembly

Assembly of Purewater Sectional tanks is carried out by our own high skilled engineers. A full base inspection is undertaken before assembly can commence. Specification calls for exacting tolerances therefore laser level equipment is used, ensuring precision and accuracy from the start.
Our engineers can fit all necessary float valves, connections and other ancillary items to the tank. Purewater will accurately install float valves ensuring correct positioning of the valve in relation to overflows and spill over screen units, thus ensuring correct AB air gap configuration.
Purewater guarantee to work safely, efficiently and with respect to other site workers. Our engineers will remove all related packaging and similar waste items, ensuring a clean area when the job is completed.

The WATER REGULATIONS ADVISORY SCHEME is funded by all the UK Water Suppliers. The Scheme is managed from the office of WRc-NSF in South Wales. Braithwaite Steel Support Towers
To provide a static head of pressure Braithwaite tanks can be erected on purpose made supporting towers. In order to choose the most suitable depth of tank for a given capacity at a known height, consideration must be given to pumping against a variable head and the pressure variations in the delivery main, both of which should be kept to a minimum.

Braithwaite structural steel support towers are a complimentary product in the range of equipment supplied and manufactured as a steel supporting structure for our range of water storage tanks. The structures have been developed over 70 years and are recognised in the industry as well-designed, efficient and economical units.

The design of the towers is undertaken by our own engineering staff supported by Computer Aided Design facilities. Towers have been designed, supplied and erected throughout the world and a wide range of sizes comply with BS.5950 Part 1 2000 for steelwork and CP 3 Chapter 5 1972 or BS.6399 Part 2 1995 for wind loading. Designs can be undertaken for other standards, unusual wind speeds or earthquake factors.

Platforms, ladders, piping, handrails, staircases and service platforms can be included. All accessories are designed to the latest British or European Codes and Standards as appropriate for the application and location. Tower components can be galvanised, painted or coated to suit the project requirements. Bottom ladder sections that are lockable or demountable can be included with safety hoops to meet safety standards.

Installation

Members are prefabricated for bolting together on site. All necessary nuts, bolts and washers are supplied and holding down bolts are included. Foundation civil works are provided by others, but design loadings will be supplied. Installation in the UK can be undertaken by our own staff that has a wide experience of this specialised work. Supervision can be provided for other countries.

Towers have been used for the support of elevated Braithwaite Tanks throughout the world. They have also been used for supporting other equipment where reliable long-life structures are needed.

The Design - One Piece GRP Water Storage Tanks

Glass Reinforced Polyester is a thermoset composite of polyester resin and glass fibre. Polyester resins are inert, with very low water absorption and toxicity levels; glass fibre too is inert and has a very high tensile strength. Together they form a composite material which is strong, durable and ideal for water storage. This composite known as GRP, has become widely used for water tank construction and the safe storage of drinking water.

Braithwaite provide a comprehensive range of standard pre-insulated cisterns to suit WRAS Regulations and BS EN 13280: 2001. The range is periodically expanded to provide greater flexibility to suit our customers requirements and are manufactured using high quality GRP. The process is controlled by the use of templates for the cutting of mat and the mechanical dosing of catalyst at the point of application. The tanks are inspected at critical stages of manufacture to ensure a consistently high quality product.

The Design - What is Sectional?

Sectional tanks are a series of modular panels bolted together on site to give an infinite range of sizes and capacities. They are particularly functional in confined spaces, and can be easily transported to remote areas conveniently packed and erected simply under skilled supervision. They play a vital role in combating drought conditions in the developing countries and rural areas.

Braithwaite pressed steel sectional tank panels, originally patented in 1901 are manufactured from mild steel using the hot press process at

our factory in South Wales to BS 1564: 1975 Type One and embossed

with a distinctive star pressing. The panels are manufactured in 1m²

and 1.22m² (4ft²) modules and bolted together on site using a WRAS approved sealant. The tanks can be insulated using the unique BELTHERM 70 system. The modular concept and bolted construction allows for high speed assembly utilising semi skilled labour. This provides cost benefits when considered against traditional concrete tanks. Nominal capacities can be supplied in the range of 1m³- 15000m³, a notable advantage of modular construction.

Through a variety of flanging arrangements Braithwaite tanks can be

designed to be supported on Structural steel towers or at ground level on dwarf walls or piers.

Additionally, design factors such as hydrostatic pressure, wind load,

snow load, seismic load, etc., of the area where the tank will be erected

are all taken into consideration during preliminary tank design. The tank panels can be used to construct divisions, baffles and weirs.

Braithwaite steel tanks are normally supplied in a hot dip galvanised finish to BS EN ISO 1461: 1999 Supplies of other surface coatings are

available on receipt of specific requirements and applications such as epoxy systems.

The NP Insulated Panel
To meet the growing need for tanks that comply with health needs, Nicholson Plastics offer a thermally insulated panel to assist in prevention of water temperature rise or fall dependant on site conditions. This has obvious advantages in the control of bacterial growth such as Legionella.
The polyurethane foam is CFC-free and has a U value of O.6W/m2/°c. It is encapsulated between the panel and a solid outer skin which has a smooth exterior surface with uniform colour throughout.
Pre-insulation is available on all panels in a range of thicknesses.

Site Check List

In the U.K. all products are offered with a full tank erection service. An experienced team will build your tank and leave it ready for commissioning. However customers should observe the following check points before calling our staff to site:

DIMENSIONS

To obtain overall tank sizes, add the following to the nominal internal dimensions:a) For 1m module tanks add 160mm to length, width and height. b) For 1.22m module tanks add 170mm to length, width and height.

TANK SUPPORTS

These are required in ONE DIRECTION ONLY: metric tanks at 1 m centres, imperial tanks at 406mm centres. Support must be level and extend to the full EXTERNAL width of the tank plus 200mm. If built on a platform with no access to bolts underneath, we must be advised in advance and an internally flanged base will be supplied.

ACCESS

Space is required all round for ease of erection, unless the tank is internally flanged. The minimum requirement is the overall size plus 9OOmm. Tanks can be built in tighter spaces, but, if this prevents access to bolts for future maintenance, we cannot accept liability, and our erectors will require written authorisation before starting work. Return visits to site, if required, will be charged at our normal rates. Other checks to be made include: access to the tank room; and any obstructions such as pipework or ducting.

HOISTING AND SERVICES

The contractor is responsible for hoisting the panels to within 6m of and on a level with the final position. If required, the contractor will also provide scaffolding, light and power free of charge.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

We reserve the right to refuse to carry out work in unsafe conditions.

Our erectors will observe site safety rules under relevant national and local health and safety regulations. Please ask for our Method Statement Sheet for further information.

DELAYS

We reserve the right to make additional charges for delays caused by preparatory work not being completed in accordance with our requirements.

PIPE CONNECTIONS

Pipe connections are fitted at site at the time of installation to agreed positions and to conform to water regulations/byelaws.

FILLING AND TESTING

This should be done as soon as possible after the tank is built and in any event within the time specified in our Warranty Conditions. Our contract does not provide for a member of staff being present during filling.

CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT

PETRONAS TWIN TOWERS
The PETRONAS Twin Towers are part of phase one of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) project. Located at the North-West comer of the 100-acre development, the towers stand majestically at 452 m, visible for more than 20 km outside the city.

The 88-storey PETRONAS Twin Towers have been acknowledged by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, as the tallest buildings in the world.

The PETRONAS Twin Towers will have a total built up area of 341,760 sq m (3.7 million sq ft). The main vertical transportation are a total of 58 doubledeck high-speed lifts, 29 in each tower.

The KLCC development is undertaken and managed by Kuala Lumpur City Centre Berhad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd which is an investment holding and property development company in which PETRONAS, the national petroleum company has 49.5 percent equity. The MAI Holdings Group holds 48 percent of the equity, and while the remaining 2.5 percent is held by minority shareholders.

SUS329J4Lは、オーステナイト／フェライトの二相組織を有する高耐食ステンレス鋼です。極低C、高Cr、高Mo組成であるため耐局部腐食性(孔食、隙間腐食、応力腐食割れ等)に優れているばかりでなく、各種酸に対する耐酸性にも優れているため、塩化物を含む環境下に適した材料です。また、従来孔食に強いとされていたSUS316よりはるかに優れた耐孔食性、耐隙間腐食性をもっており、耐孔食性を必要とする海水プラント・化学プラント向けに使用されています。水槽(飲料用)環境下では、気相部と呼ばれる空気層部が、水槽の設置条件や滅菌用に投入されている塩素量によっては、厳しい腐食環境になる事があります。森松では、水槽のこの部位に高級ステンレス鋼であるSUS329J4Lを使用しております。

SUS444鋼は、AOD／VOD等の高純度精練法の発達により生まれた鋼種で、極低C、極低N、18Cr－2Moの高純度フェライト系ステンレス鋼とも呼ばれています。SUS444は、耐孔食性、耐隙間腐食性に対して、SUS304以上、環境によってはSUS316以上の耐食性を示すほか、耐応力腐食割れ性に関しては圧倒的に優れています。

●新世代のパネルタンク●

森松は、1970年に安全で清潔、かつ丈夫で長持ちするSUS304製のステンレスパネルタンクの開発に成功しました。しかしながら、飲料水用水槽では水槽の設置条件や滅菌用に投入されている塩素量によって、水槽の気相部と呼ばれる空気層部にのみ発錆する事故が発生しました。そこで1977年に、より耐食性の高いスーパーフェライト系ステンレス鋼を使用したSUS444製パネルタンクを開発。更に年々悪化する水質条件に対応するため、1987年に耐海水用ステンレス鋼を使用したSUS329J4Lパネルタンクを開発しました。飲料用水槽では、水質、設置場所等の諸条件を考慮し、大都市部など極めて塩素含有量が高く水質条件の悪い地域で使用するSUS329J4L製パネルタンク（図A）と、比較的水質条件の良い地域で使用するSUS444製パネルタンク（図B）を使い分けております。

On March 3, 1947, Sekisui Chemical Industries Inc. - parent company of the Sekisui Group - was thus established with an initial capital of 100,000 Japanese yen (roughly $1,000) and a mere seven employees. A Brief Introduction

Sekisui panel tanks are six-sided in design, each side consisting of a network of "GRP" (Glassfibre Reinforced Polyester). These panels are produced at one of Sekisui Auqa Systems quality control plants using our proprietary MMD system. Utilisation of the GRP construction method provides an insurmountable degree of strength and durability for our water storage tanks. Additionally, design factors such as hydrostatic pressure, wind load, snow load, seismic load, etc., of the area where the tank will be erected are all taken into consideration during preliminary tank design stages. Further, the lightweight nature of these glassfibre panels - constructed using our exclusive MMD method - facilitates transportation of the disassembled tank to the erection sight. Its lightweight nature also reduces the amount of time and labour required during assembly. Finally, all parts and accessories for Sekisui water storage tanks have been standardised, thereby simplifying any repairs that may become necessary after assembly and simultaneously reducing down time. As an added benefit, Sekisui's after-sales service and maintenance are second to none.

`Sekisui` insulated or uninsulated storage cistern with AB air gap` the sectional comprises a cold water cistern assembled from glass reinforced plastics (GRP) panels and polyester resin for construction of cold water storage cisterns for wholesome water. The panels are constructed in sandwich form with a layer of GRP each side of a 20mm thick block of insulation (ridge polyethylene foam). Manufacturers calculated thermal capacity of the insulated panels is 0.022098. The largest capacity cisterns have stainless steel internal bracing and PVC pole supports. The roof covers are of the same panel construction provided with manhole inspection hatch, joints are sealed with synthetic rubber gaskets. The weir dimensions is relevant to the inlet size. The dimensions of the weir is 1m x 0.5m and is acceptable for use with inlet dimensions up to DN 80. The storage cistern must be installed with a WRAS approved electrically operated level control switch and a WRAS approved electrically operated inlet valve.
